Time to dust off those cleats and dig out that mitt from under the bed....It's baseball season! I want to welcome you to the Salmon Creek Little League NW8 Rangers! I am very excited for the start of my favorite time of the year!!! For those of you that don't know me (very few of you) - My name is and I will be coaching my 3rd season and 6th little league team this year. Assisting me this season is who also has many years of youth coaching experience. Our team parent is please give him/her all the support you can.....(we will discuss this very important job at the first practice - please put some thought in if you think you can help volunteer for this). We have eleven players this season on the team: First Practice: February 16, 5pm, Salmon Creek Elementary School If your player is unable to make it, just let me know in advance. Practice: We will be practicing on Wednesday nights and Saturdays this season. Practice will start at 5:00pm and go for 1 hour 15 minutes (approximately). Once daylight savings starts, we'll move practice to 5:30pm. We will also be practicing, before the season starts, on Saturdays (time TBD). The Saturday practices will go about 1.5 hours. Our practice field is at Salmon Creek Elementary School (1601 NE 129th St). Practice starts sharp and I try my best to end on time. We practice rain or shine. If it is raining, we will practice under the overhang at the school and work on skill drills that we can do in the smaller space. If your player is going to miss a game or practice, please let me know as early as possible, so I can factor that into my practice plans and into the lineups for the games. Games/Season/Website: Opening Day is March . We will have opening ceremonies at 10am and a game some time that day. www.salmoncreekll.com/calendar has other league dates of interest, so please check that out. Please put the web site in your favorites - the important dates for the season, up to date information of what is going on in the league and answers to any question that you may have. Also on the site is contact information for anyone involved officially with Salmon Creek Little League. TWITTER: Occasionally there will be games that are either rained out or it might seem that a rain out is impending but over at Gaiser field (where the games are played) it is perfectly clear and the games are NOT called off. Salmon Creek Little League communicates all Rainout updates instantly on TWITTER. Signing up to this news feed will save you time, gas and from the frustration of not knowing your games status. This works great for anyone with a Smart Phone and is INSTANT! This is an easy account to set up - let me know if you need help. There are other ways to get rainout information but they are all slower than TWITTER and may not save you the effort of driving over to the fields. Email: Most of the information passing I do with parents happens through email. The email address I am using now is what I was given from your registration info. If you have additional email addresses you want me to send info to (work, spouses, grandparents, etc.), please just send them to me and I will add them to the list. Cell phones: In case of emergency, I would like to have best contact numbers for everyone. If that number is different than the information you registered, please email me the number(s). For some folks I don't have any phone number, and want to make sure I can contact everyone. Help: Many of you have had kids on my team in the past and have been a great help coaching, scorekeeping, and helping with field prep. I really appreciate all the help. If you are interested in helping out this season, that would be fantastic. I love having lots of help on the field so we can do lots of stations and keep practices moving. On game days, there is always much to do so the kids have an enjoyable experience, so anything you can do to help with field prep or player prep is great. Just show up and let me know you are willing to help and I will find a place for you. We also are responsible for umpiring other games in the NW8's. This is an area I will really need help in, and if you can commit to umpiring a game or two during the season, that would be outstanding. I have attached the Volunteer form that you will need to fill out if you want to be on the field during practice and/or games. Please fill this out and return to me when you are ready to help out. I will also have copies of this form with me whenever you need them. Parents meeting, after practice, February 19, Salmon Creek Elementary field: After our second Saturday practice on February 19, we will have a short parents meeting on the field, just so everyone can meet each other, I can cover a few things, and can answer any questions you have. Please respond and let me know that you received this with any extra contact information. Thanks and see everyone Wednesday, Feb 16th, 5pm for the first practice. 360-555-1212
